Maybe it’s the traditional design or the bright white color, but these fences are definitely held in high regards by many people! Their simplicity is captivating and it’s no wonder many homeowners see them as the ultimate dream. A home with a dark exterior will wonderfully contrast the white fence, contributing to a balanced setting that is but a monochrome backdrop for the greens growing in the yard. The color white’s biggest blessing is the fact that it makes all the other colors stand out. If you really want the colorfulness of your house to be seen from miles away, a white picket fence is a sure-fire way to do so.
The driveway may be a part of the home’s outdoors, but it’s equally as important as any interior. The looks of your driveway are a reflection on your entire home and normally the first impression that a house makes on its guests or those who pass by it. Contemporary homes can pride themselves on their clean lines, minimal style and use of neutral colors. They reflect those features in their driveways! Take a look at these 30 homes that show off their top-notch modern driveway. When a driveway is empty it’s easy to see it as open, but when the cars get parked much of the spaciousness goes away. Think ahead and make sure your modern home gets a driveway it deserves – one that has an abundance of space and a sleek look.
This viewing platform by Austrian architect Zamp Kelp, was created for the EXPO 2000 in Hanover, Germany. Curiously sited on the border of an old quarry, the platform juxtaposes a statuesque staircase made using quarry stone with a spectacular cantilevered glass and steel platform. Architectural studio Cooke Fawcett designed a 3.5-metre-wide and thirty-two-metre-long raised platform, that spans the width of a multistorey car park in Peckham, south-east London. Sited on the car park’s rooftop deck, the elevated steel and hardwood timber promenade was completed this year. Called the Peckham Observatory, it offers views across the London skyline as well as the capital’s much overlooked southern neighbourhoods.
